Seeing Red

So, even though the Cards tried their hardest to get swept by the Reds this weekend, they managed to salvage game three on Sunday despite Ryan Franklin's first blown save this year.

Hopefully it's the last one too.

Our starting pitching staff was shaken up over the weekend. This doesn't come as that big of a surprise to me. The Cardinals staff leans heavily on the "pitch-to-contact" philosophy. That game plan works for the most part, and had been working pretty effectively so far this year. That is until they pitched in Hitter's Paradise a.k.a. Great American Park.

Our hitting was finally able to come to life a little today. Pujols went deep again; number 12. Though it was another solo shot. Seems like Alberto has been making a habit of that lately. Colby came to life today and drove in a couple of runs, including the game winner on a 10th inning double.

Cards relax Monday - finally. They go to Pittsburgh on Tuesday with Wellemeyer starting the first game of the series. It's in the bag. If only somebody would just steal Wellemeyer's calendar and erase every month and write in 'May'....
