Bust Out the Brooms

Well...a 2 game sweep of the Pirates...maybe just bust out the dustpan. Nonetheless, the job was done.

Wednesday:

Boggs pitched well enough to get the Cards the win, but the bullpen played a bigger role. The pen combined for 4 2/3 innings of shut out ball. Albert did his thing and went 4 out of 4 with yet another home run. Duncan also chased in a couple of runs with a triple as the Cards held on to win 4-2.

Thursday:

"Mr. May" Todd Wellemeyer continued on his winning ways in May with a 7 inning, 2 run outing. The Cards scored 5 as Jason LaRue homered in a spot start in place of Yadi. Ryan Franklin sealed up the 5-2 victory with his league leading 9th save.

In other Redbird news, Ankiel was moved to the 15-day DL. The player called up to the roster to fill his place may surprise you. No Stackowiak - No Mather... but Shane Robinson. He was hitting .345 and had a .410 OBP so far this year at AAA Memphis.

Pineiro gets the start tomorrow as the Cards begin a 3 game set in Cincy.

Hows a bouts another sweep?
