Wellemeyer Too?? Wow! ... Game 9

Carpenter (1-0, 0.00) vs. Scherzer (0-0, 0.00)

It's nice to see that Wellemeyer joined in the 'great-starting-pitcher-parade' last night as well. Wellemeyer pitched fantastically holding the D-backs to only 1 run in 7 innings. He got good support from the bullpen as well (McClellan, Reyes, and Franklin) holding his 2-1 lead the last 2 frames.

So far, one of our best off season moves was to pick up "The Breakfast Man", Dennys Reyes. He has pitched great. And what about Franklin setting 'em down in the 9th for the save in a 2-1 game. Kinda makes me wish we would've given him the ball in the 9th on opening day too.

On a night that our hitting was shut down, the pitching stepped up. The Cards scored their 2 runs on 2 solo homers from Barden and Pujols. And Barden just got enough of his.

Who would've thought we'd be off to the hot start we're off to? Except for me, that is...

Through 8 games, we are 6-2 (which easily could have been 7-1), out team batting average is .295, we're averaging 5 runs a game, our team ERA is 2.63, we've struck out 51 and walked only 18. Not to mention we're sitting on top of the NL Central.... ahem, Brewers fans.

Alright, I'll admit it's still early. But it would have been hard to imagine a start this good. I'm content.

Tonight Carp squares off against local boy, Max Scherzer. Scherzer's got a blazing fastball, and there's only about one thing Carp could do to improve on his last outing - a no,no.

So, I'm expecting a no-hitter Carp. When you read this, I want you to know I'm counting on you.
But if you do decide to give up a hit or 2, or even a run, please give it up to Stephen Drew. He's on my fantasy team.

Lineup:
1) Schumaker, 2B
2) Rasmus, RF
3) Pujols, 1B
4) Duncan, LF
5) Ankiel, CF
6) Greene, SS
7) Molina, C
8) Thurston, 3B
9) Carpenter, P

Go Crazy!

  1. I didn't see the line score. Carp might have thrown his no no. Only problem is he only lasted 3 innings. That's not a no no, it's an Oh No!
