Wainwright (1-0, 1.74) vs. Marshall (0-0, 0.00)
Well, by now we all know that Carpenter is gonna be out for at least 4 weeks and as much as 8 weeks. How depressing is that.
TLR -"If it's not bad, four weeks. Bad, it's eight weeks."
Cards suffered a hard loss to the D-backs 2 nights ago. After giving up a 4-2 lead and going behind 6-4, they scored 2 in the 9th...only to blow it in the 10th. I wish somebody would tell me why with 1 out and the bases loaded in a tie game in the 9th, you pinch hit with Brendan Ryan?? Ludwick seems to me like the obvious choice... And then bring in Ludwick in the 10th to sacrifice?? Tony must've been crazy after watching Carp go out of the game.
Anyway, we did pull out the victory yesterday. Not pretty, but it still counts as a W in the standings. We beat those snakes 12-7. The Cards bats were resilient when the pitching was at a low point. Oh, and Tony... Ludwick homered.
Today we start our toughest series of the season so far. In Wrigley. I hate that place. The Cubs switched around the rotation so that we would face the lefty Marshall. I hope that the wind switches every half inning and Wainwright can step up and be our ace to carry us through the next couple of months.
Through it all - we came out of the first 10 games in 1st. 7-3 to start the year looks great to me.
