Pujols Goes Off ... Game 7

Rodriguez (0-0, 1.50) vs. Lohse (1-0, 2.57)

Yesterday, we got to see Albert Pujols go off. Seems like the Astros are his target a lot of the time. Pujols hit 2 home runs and they were polar opposites. The first one - a grand slam - off of Oswalt, went 443 feet. It hit off the face of the Big Mac Land sign. The second one - a three-run homer - barely stayed fair and barely cleared the wall going 369 feet.

Pujols finished the day going 2-4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs, which ties his career high for RBIs in a game. And according to ESPN's stat projections, Pujols is on pace for 81 homers and 243 RBIs. If he doesn't make it to these figures, I for one will be greatly disappointed.

By the way - all distance information was provided by hittrackeronline.com. If you have never checked out this site, it's pretty neat. It tells you all kinds of information about every home run hit.

Wainwright didn't pitch great, but somehow managed to keep the Astros off the board for 5 innings even though he allowed 4 hits and 3 walks. Motte looked better. He looked more comfortable working in a 6-0 game for some reason...hmmm...wonder why. Dennys pitched well - must've been the mojo from Pujols' grand slam. Get it? - Dennys...grand slam...? Nevermind.

Let's sweep today Cardinals. Although the Cards struggle sometimes when facing "The Magic Wandy."

Lineup:
1) Schumaker, 2B
2) Greene, SS
3) Pujols, 1B
4) Ludwick, RF
5) Duncan, LF
6) Molina, C
7) Freese, 3B
8) Rasmus, CF
9) Lohse, P

Go Crazy.

  1. So Pujols hit 2 homne runs, was that a Grand Slam combo for Dennys? By the way, Lohse looked great -- go Twins!
