New Season, Same Problems ... Game 2

Snell (0-0, 0.00) vs. Lohse (0-0, 0.00)

Wish I had better news to report from game one -

The first big mistake occurred in the 6th inning. With the Pirates batting with 2 out and 2 on, Josh Kinney only had to retire the pitcher to get out of the inning. He nibbled and nibbled and after way too much nibbling, he walked him to load the bases. That's when Trever Miller (our lefty specialist) came in to face the lefty Nyjer Morgan... and proceeded to give up a 2-run single.

Ludwick homered in the 8th to put the Birds back ahead and the Cards had a 2 run lead going into the 9th. But Jason Motte made sure to blow it and gave up 4 runs with 2 out in the 9th. Now I predicted he would be our closer...I didn't predict he would do well.

Positively speaking though... It's only one game. And Pujols looks very good. He went 3-4 with a double.

Hopefully we can turn it around against Snell today. Pujols is a .424 hitter off Snell with 4 homers. Molina has hit Snell for a .391 clip and Schumaker is a .455 hitter against him. I hope we can see some offense today. Lets score so many runs the bullpen won't get a chance to blow it.

I will post our lineup today when it's announced.

EDIT
Starting Lineup:
1) Schumaker, 2B
2) Rasmus, RF
3) Pujols, 1B
4) Duncan, LF
5) Greene, SS
6) Ankiel, CF
7) Molina, C
8) Thurston, 3B
9) Lohse, P

Go Crazy.

  1. Well, this worked so well last year I guess we're going to try it again. Who's turn to blow it today? Kinney, Miller, and Motte took their turns, I guess it's Frankin's turn today. Let's bring up Perez. Now I know why I didn't pick any Cards relievers on my fantasy team. Where's Izzy!!!!

  2. Izzy is gone. The Cards took him back behind the shed and put him out. Let them take turns blowing it. Who cares.
