The Cards Get Rich

What is in the news today? Let's see...

The Cards of course signed Rich Hill on Tuesday and gave him an invite to spring training. Rich had a break out season in 2007, but due to injuries and mechanics problems, he hasn't been able to put it all together since. In 2007, he went 11-8 and had an ERA of 3.92 in 32 starts and 195 inn. He did only average 6 innings per start, but if he can pitch anything like 2007 i would take him in the rotation over the likes of Boggs or McClellan any day.

Good luck on the Rich Hill Project, Dunc. Work your magic. I'm worried because one word keeps coming to my head...Maroth.

The signing of Hill has signified the end of the Cards pitching upgrades. Mozeliak said that the only upgrades he is still shopping for are offensive in nature. But that remains to be seen. Smoltzy still wants to be in St. Louis. And other reports show that the Cards are among the plethora of teams attending Noah Lowry's work out session next Tuesday. Lowry's last effective season was 2005 but he hasn't pitched at all since 2007. He's still only 29 too, so there's a positive. My question is why even go to the session if you are done shopping for pitching?

And finally, apparently the Cards are out on the Edmonds signing. Call me sentimental but c'mon... you know you would want to see Jimmy out roaming center field wearing the birds on the bat. (I don't miss the strike outs on the eye level heaters, though.)

We will just have to wait and see what happens...

I will leave you with an image that sums up the reason behind my smile yesterday.

Andre Dawson goes to the Hall Of Fame as a Montreal Expo
Enjoy eternity in that Expos garb Andre.
One less Cub in the Hall is fine by me.

See ya tomorrow CardinalNation!
