Just finished watching the amazing USA comeback against Puerto Rico. With Team USA 3 outs away from elimination, they scored 3 runs in the 9th to beat Oquendo and company 6-5 and move on to the next round. What does that mean to the Redbirds? Means Oquendo and Molina will be back in camp shortly.
Anyway, the Cards had a well deserved day off today to prepare for their split squad double header against Baltimore on Wednesday. So we shall find something else to talk about.
Who will bat 1-2 and 4-9 in the lineup this year?
Skip Schumaker would have to stay in the lead off spot after his huge success in that spot in the order last year. Schumaker is great at getting on base. My inclination would be to lean towards Ryan Ludwick batting clean up. Luddy, coming off by far the best season in his career, deserves the number four position.
Other than those two spots, and Pujols obviously, the rest of the line up is up for grabs. Here's how I see it:
- Skip Schumaker, 2B
- Chris Duncan, LF
- Albert Pujols, 1B
- Ryan Ludwick, RF
- Rick Ankiel, CF
- Khalil Greene, SS
- Yadier Molina, C
- Pitcher, P
- Brenden Ryan, 3B
But that is my opening day guess. What is yours? Let me know! Comment below.
Go Cards.
Is Chris Duncan really the leading candidate for left field? Whatever happened to Colby? I like your lineup except for Duncan. What happens when Glaus gets back? I see him taking over at cleanup unless Ludwick continues as he did last year. Once he's back, I feel we have a lineup that can compete with anyone and will score a lot of runs.
